Suggested Boycott!

This is where we will post the names of businesses who are advocating, tollerating or promoting violence and neglect of children by the flaunting or failing to report neglect or violence against children on their property.  It's happening right before our eyes and we've become desensitized to the need to respond on behalf of children and families in crisis.  If we don't prevent it, we permit it.

Corporal Punishment participants, please read this:  Perhaps you practice corporal punishment, which is not legally defined as abuse nor are we here to debate the issue, however, please consider this for a moment:  A child who is being abused does not know the difference between abuse and corporal punishment, to them, it is all abuse because they have never known of punishment that is considered less than abuse.  So, if they are being hit in public and no one comes to their aid, then what is being done to them all the time must be allowed, right?  One reason abused children don't seek help is that they don't know they are being abused and secondly, help doesn't notice them in a crowd of people who are practicing corporal punishment.  We are sending mixed messages to abusive families that abuse is ok anywhere, just don't go over board in public.  If you could help save lives by not practicing corporal punishment in public, wouldn't you want to practice some restraint?   Please, don't spank your child in public, it sends the wrong message to abusers and abused children.

CHILDREN'S DEFENSE MOVEMENT
Our focus is to apply economic pressure to businesses
to help ensure the public safety and security of our Nation's children.

Wal-Mart has established itself as the leading retail Super Market in America.  As leaders in  community awareness and supporters of domestic violence prevention we bringing it to your attention that you have failed in an effort to prevent violence against children on your premises.  Effective July 26, 2008,  we will encourage a boycott of your cereal aisles until you publicly announce an enforceable public safety policy for children on your premises.  You are not effectively preventing violence against children on your premises, and if you’re not preventing it you’re permitting it.

We are demanding: That your Corporation mandate equal protection for children in public places across the nation. Businesses, starting from the corporate level, must begin to hire security personal or put systems in place which will ensure the safety of every person on site. All measures must be taken to prevent any failures in providing a safe environment for consumers, especially the most vulnerable.  As leaders, we hope you will be the first to take this step.

Ultimately, those who are responsible for upholding public safety on the premises must be proactive in the intervention and prevention of children being assaulted on site. Proper regulations must be established to enforce the compliance of all security. These new regulations need to be posted in public view where consumers can be continuously reminded that their safety is first. It is time to assist the shopper with safe and appropriate means of public discipline. It is time to put an end to shameful, painful and demoralizing public assaults on children.

Place: Wal-Mart Nation Wide
Effective Date: July 26th ~ Mandate takes effect

OFF SITE: Cereal Aisle Boycott. Buy your cereal from a food chain other than the one announced until they institute an enforceable public safety policy for children on their premises. Picketers Welcome!

Savannah Georgia

El Cheapo Gas Station: Lehoward and Bay Street Savannah:  Suggested Boycott for the reason that they are flaunting pictures of a child with a military style riffle in the purchase window of their store.  In the state of Georgia, it is illegal to outfit a child with a fire arm unless in the privacy of a parent's home with the consent of that parent.  If these photo's were taken for private use, they should not be flaunted in public where other children can see them.  Children are impressionable and easily influenced by such images.  This situation is at least neglectful on the part of this store operator.  SWR suggests a Boycott until this station removes these images of offense to children.  There are three other gas stations within one mile of this station, please support another.
